THAILAND: Railway Modernization Reverse Trade Mission and Virtual Roundtable
June 20, 2022 to July 1, 2022│ Washington, DC, New York, NY, Indianapolis, IN and Chicago, IL
Tuatara Group led technical program development and all logistical arrangements for USTDA’s Thailand Railway Modernization Reverse Trade Mission which brought a delegation of fifteen rail sector executives from State Railway of Thailand and entities from the Ministry of Transportation including the Office of Permanent Secretary, Department of Rail Transport, Mass Rapid Transit Authority and Rail Technology Research and Development Agency to the U.S. for two weeks of meetings and site visits. The visit’s goal was to familiarize the delegation with state-of-the-art U.S. railway technologies, best practices, financing mechanisms and regulatory frameworks and policies and to support railway modernization projects. The itinerary included stops in Washington, DC, New York, NY, Indianapolis, IN and Chicago, IL where the delegates met public sector representatives, industry associations, and U.S. technology and equipment providers.
Tuatara organized a business briefing in Chicago, IL, a rail financing and economics workshop, and a financing roundtable to discuss various mechanisms to finance projects. The visit was initially planned for October 2021, but was postponed due to the Covid 1- pandemic.
Tuatara organized a virtual roundtable in May of 2021 to maintain momentum where they orchestrated several panel discussions on relevant U.S. and Thai rail topics for the benefit of both the U.S. and Thai virtual participants. Simultaneous interpretation was used throughout the RTM and virtual roundtable.
